CAPS stands for the Center for Advanced Professional Studies, this is a program where students have to opportunitie to be immeresed in a real world setting in with in a variety of different fields.
Key Activities/ Experience

Spearheaded Fruit Rescue Program (Gold Award-): in which students can still received the reduced price lunch by taking the produce, then if they are not going to eat, they can deposit in a basket to be washed and then donated to Harvesters to help feed food-insecure people in the Kansas City area.

Founder and President of S.P.O.T.S. Club- Founded S.P.O.T.S. Club, which stands for Students Providing Opportunities to Serve; student led club revolved around serving the community.

Part of Research for USDA Grant- Dr. Londa Nwadike: supported a research project being proposed by State Extension Consumer Food Safety Specialist Dr. Londa Nwadike that explored access to meat in the African nation of Malawi.

Prototyped a Bio-methane/ Decomposing Toilet: can be inexpensively deployed in the developing world and from which methane gas can be sequestered and stored to run farm implements such as irrigation systems.

Developed and Prototyped New Food Product: In CAPS Global Food Industries class we had the opportunity to create and a prototype our own innovative food product, then proceed to write a business plan for it. As well as we then presented our work in front of a panel of local entrepreneurs.

Participated in Kauffman FastTrac Program: for up and coming entrepreneurs looking to start up and or create their own business.
